Health officials say parents should be aware of an infection called Strep A
It’s a bacteria sometimes found in the throat or on the skin. In very rare occasions, the bacteria can get into the bloodstream and cause an illness called invasive Group A strep (iGAS).
Your children can catch it through close contact and from coughs and sneezes. Again infection is usually mild & treatable with antibiotics.
For more information on Strep A bacterial infection, what do do if you believe your child has symptoms & prevention guidance, visit the Strep A & Scarlet Fever section of our Community Health & Wellbeing Hub.

At 8-16 weeks your baby should have taken all these vaccinations
It's important that vaccines are given on time for the best protection, but if you or your child missed a vaccine, contact your GP to catch up.
