Basch Helps CIC is reporting unprecedented demand for its award-winning AngelBox service, with significant waiting lists currently developing across Westminster, Hounslow, Hillingdon, Tower Hamlets, Hammersmith & Fulham, Ealing, Camden, and Watford.
The organisation is now working at full capacity to process referrals and deliver essential support to families with newborns and toddlers who are experiencing financial hardship, temporary accommodation, domestic crisis, displacement, and other challenging circumstances.
Founded in 2020, AngelBox was created to ensure that no baby goes without the essentials needed for a safe and healthy start in life. Since its launch, the programme has delivered more than 11,000 AngelBoxes, supporting thousands of families across London while remaining 100% volunteer managed and operated.
Unlike traditional one-size-fits-all support packages, AngelBox is built around a simple principle: Your Baby. Your Choice. The service provides personalised support based on a family’s individual circumstances and the specific needs of their child, helping ensure that support is practical, relevant, and delivered when it is needed most.
Over the past six years, AngelBox has evolved into a trusted and structured support model, combining community partnerships, technology-driven systems, and volunteer-led delivery to reach families during some of the most difficult periods of pregnancy and early parenthood.
Basch Helps believes that dignity and choice matter. Rather than simply providing whatever items happen to be available, the organisation works to give parents the freedom to access the products and equipment that best meet their baby’s needs. This approach maximises impact for both funders and beneficiaries while helping families retain independence and confidence during times of crisis.
Recent increases in referrals have placed significant pressure on stock levels, logistics, and volunteer resources. The charity is now appealing to the public for support as it works to clear the growing backlog over the coming weeks.
A spokesperson for Basch Helps CIC said:
“Every referral represents a family facing a difficult situation. Behind every AngelBox is a parent trying to provide the very best start for their child despite significant challenges. Demand has reached levels we have never seen before across a number of boroughs, and while our volunteers are working tirelessly to respond, we need the community’s support to help us meet that demand.
We are asking residents, businesses and supporters to consider making even a small contribution. Every donation helps us provide essential baby items, equipment and practical support to families who simply cannot wait.”
Basch Helps has previously been recognised for its work supporting families, including receiving the NHS North West London ICB Health Equity Award Winner 2023 distinction highlighted by the organisation.
The organisation is confident that, with public support, it can reduce waiting times, replenish stocks, and continue ensuring that babies across London receive the essentials they need during the most critical stages of early life.
