It’s been a tough hot summer and our teams have been working effortlessly in response to the growing crisis of baby poverty in London, Basch Helps CIC has delivered a vital consignment of supplies—including diapers, hygiene products, and other essentials across London. This initiative is part of the community enterprise’s broader commitment to supporting families facing hardship across the capital.
Recent data reveals that nearly one in three children in London are growing up in poverty, with boroughs like Tower Hamlets seeing rates as high as 48%. The impact on babies and toddlers is especially severe, with many families struggling to afford basic necessities such as nappies, formula, and warm clothing.
Captured in a recent photo, team members from Basch Helps CIC are seen actively delivering baby essentials and baby equipment in the borough of Hounslow. These supplies will be provided to families through local partners and baby banks, helping to alleviate immediate needs while raising awareness of the broader issue.
“This is more than just a delivery—it’s a lifeline,” said Natalie from the management committee. “We’re seeing firsthand how rising costs and restrictive policies are pushing families to the brink. No baby should go without the basics.”
The rise in child poverty has been linked to policies such as the two-child limit, which restricts benefits for larger families, and the ongoing cost-of-living crisis. Organisations like ours are stepping in to fill the gap, but systemic change is urgently needed.
