Meet Precious, a 2 months old baby born into a life of temporary accommodation. Sadly a fact which is becoming increasingly common among young single parents. When we first met Precious at a week old the room she was sleeping in had mice running around and a leaking roof on top of the already damp bedding, rotten carpets and no hot water.
2 months on both mum and baby have moved to there third accommodation already and as a consequence, the mum’s mental health has deteriorated as well as having an impact on her asthma and diabetes and as a response we welcomed her into our 1 to 1 befriending service and together are working on a journey of recovery & wellness.
Precious on the other hand was this years first recipient of much needed winter clothing on top of her shiny new cot, carrier and baby essentials.
In the end, its been a tough period for our community enterprise & morale is sometimes admittedly low as we feel London’s situation is only getting gloomier by the day, but sometimes all it takes is a moment or 10 with these innocent babies to realise that what we’re trying to achieve collectively is priceless when realising there is no one else to answer the silent cries of help.
